There are many reasons why people from Saskatchewan leave to seek employment and further their education elsewhere It is harder to get ahead here than it is in other places This province has a lot of drawbacks I am originally from a small farming community in the southwest part of the province Most communities in this province are small and based around agriculture Since the agriculture industry is doing so poorly a lot of communities are suffering People cannot afford to stay in an endeavour that demands an enormous amount of input but has no dividends The Canadian government fails to recognize or just ignores the fact that there is a farm crisis People who cannot afford to stay farming have to pack up and move to find work elsewhere or just move their farming operation somewhere else The people the do leave Saskatchewan almost all go to Alberta Here they find a lot more employment opportunities also the provincial government has given out farm aid and drought aid packages The provincial government of Alberta can afford to give aid to its farmers whereas the Saskatchewan government cannot The whole future of Alberta looks a lot better than that of Saskatchewan The economy is so good there that it takes away from what we have here Alberta has a lot more oil a lot more than Saskatchewan Oil generates a tremendous amount of revenue for the government It also creates what seems like endless employment The amount of employment attracts a lot of people people from places like Saskatchewan that leave to broaden their horizons There is also no PST in Alberta so it costs people less to live and everyone wants to pay less taxes Less taxes is definitely a drawing point for people deciding where to plant their roots One could
