An Occupation of Interest As a child I always knew that I wanted to be a doctor I wanted to help educate I wanted to make a difference in peoples lives and bottom line I wanted to help people As I got older I began to realize the many different fields of medicine and began to wonder which specialized career was for me I began researching different occupations such as Pediatrician Obstetrician Family practice and Surgeon But lately Ive been turned on to dentistry After my last teeth cleaning I asked if I could observe for a day and learn about the life of a dentist My dentist enthusiastically accepted my request and agreed for a day of observation the following week I spent an eight-hour day with Dr S and got to see first hand the challenges pressures and rewards of this alternative approach to being a Doctor A trip to the dentist is something that not too many people look forward to You may recall being a nervous child in The Chair Or maybe a painful experience with The Drill Ive heard many stories and I myself had fears of the dentists as a child But when it came time for braces I had a change of heart for my dentist and even began to like the guy My dentist has a unique touch and grace about his practice that makes a visit to the dentist a pleasant and painless experience Dentistry is a complex field that is technologically advancing demands close patient physician contact and improves smiles and lives of all people Ive become inspired by my dentist to pursue a career in dentistry and help to create a patient friendly environment through good practice skills and close relationships with patients to make the visits as pleasant and painless as possible I arrived early dressed in slacks and a collard shirt I was welcomed by the staff and greeted by Dr
