In this essay Scott Russell Sanders is showing how in his time the working men in his experience did not have it easy unlike the men of the wealthy and riches The men he knew of destroyed their bodies just to make a living They would work night and day I think he his thesis comes out the strongest when he makes his point about going to college He went thee on a scholarship he didnt have money like all the other kids in the college Who was to know he was a poor kid when he was younger though All the girls figured he was a son of a rich father a father that had no worries about life The girls at the college claim that the girls have it harder than the guys Those girls know though they didnt live the life that Scott lived I feel he states his thesis in an implied way he always kept explaining the life of the guys in the working class and comparing their lives to the men who worked as doctors lawyers ect I like the way Scott Sanders wrote this essay He made me feel how hard these men would work for their family For example Wrestling parts onto cars and refrigerators that right there makes it sound like their job was a pain in the ass Also he makes me feel the pain these working men went through The nails of their hands were black and split the hands tattooed with scars Some had lost fingers Heavy lifting had given many of them finicky back and guts weak from hernias Ouch thats hard work and these men did it all for their family I like the way he put in some analogies For example when he is explaining that many soldiers died he uses this analogy This is what soldiers were for just as a hammer was for driving nails Scott
