I have pride in my Haitian culture I have very traditional family both my parent came from Haiti to get a better life and so their kids could have the American dream But I was raised as if they were back in Haiti I remember waking up the day of my cousinsgraduation party My mothers home cooking and the smell of Goya brand spices from the dish she was cooking filled the air just like the anticipation for party The house was so loud because you had my aunts and mother debating who was rightSo you can only imagine how much effort I had to contribute my mother had me running all over the house doing things for her Everyone was running wild trying to get thing done As the time grew closer to the party my cousin had my sisters and I go set up the tables Everyone was a nervous wreck because this was going to the biggest party my family had thrown in a while People started coming in by the handful and didnt seem like they were going to stop As I watched people walk into my backyard through my bedroom window as I got dressed While the party had not even start I was thinking about later on towards the end of it and making sure I had food for tomorrow and how I was going have clean up after all these people in my houseAs I got dressed the smell of food was still in the air but that was a normal thing in my house You can never really get the smell of food out your clothes so once you get leave the house and smell your outfit it smells like the food your mother just cooked I knew I was not going to have that problem tonight since the cooking had just finished and I made sure I was not going to be near when they do
