I was awaken to the loud sounds of a rooster crowing who through the whole camping trip I never saw I walked to the campfire where my mom hunched over a pit make eggs in her favorite cast iron skillet My three pre-teen brothers still in their tents sleeping Are you ready for a hike Andrew my dad said I quietly responded with a nod and grunt Camping has always been a favorite activity of my father and I We have never been known to see eye to eye on things and it seemed that we didnt have much in common but camping was our thing We loaded our backpack with essentials first aid kid water food and an extra pair of socks and away we wentWalking through a dense forest I asked Have you been on this hike before My dad gave me the same grunt and nod I gave him earlier that morning As we ascended up the side of a mountain I finally seen the trail we were going to be hiking I have never been on a hike so treacherous The adrenaline was pulsing through my body in excitement We were so high up this mountain I could barely see the campsite below The view was absolutely stunning as the sun rose from its bed the bright reds and oranges glowed from behind the horizon As we walked along a narrow road at the mountains belly I daydreamed about myself living in this beautiful environment Suddenly I felt my foot drop into crumbling rocks I yell loudly as my body lost all balance I was falling over the edge Just then I felt myself stop my dad had a hold on me Watch your step he muttered with a half grin on his face We then continued up the mountain until the road began to decline back to the bottom floor Walking through a field of wildflowers and weeds gave
