The Bosnia-Herzogovina conflict which involved a severe genocide is believed to be a continuation of the war of aggression against Slovenia and Croatia which temporarily subsided before the 90s In March and April of 1990 Slovenia and Croatia held their first multi-party elections in almost 50 years The communists lost to parties favouring the national sovereignty of a reorganized Yugoslav group Bosnia had a muslim president at the time by the name of Alija Izetbegovic who tried to find a way for Slovenians and Croatians to live together along with Serbs in the Yugoslav federation peacefully but was hampered by Milosevic and the federal Serbian army leaders The federal army assembled small militia forces in towns with Serbian majorities that already had their own polices forces and everything The army almost forced weapons upon every Serbian mostly the civilians Croatia and Slovenia began to want independence and their land back which they believed the Serbian leaders were stealing slowly The federal army along with Serbian forces that were merely there to protect Serbs were in fact seizing large pieces of Croatian territory In these regions Serbs were using systematic efforts to terrorize and expel the Croatian population Whole sections of Croatia and now Bosnia were converted into a wastelands of rubble and burnt buildings Hundreds of thousands of Muslims and Croats were driven from their homes by the Serbian forces in a deliberate campaign of territorial conquest and ethnic purification At last count the number of refugees from the Serbian war of destruction and extermination in Bosnia was approaching 35 million Sarajevo was destroyed by the fascist Serbian groups obtaining firearms from the Federal army Whenever Bosnians and Croatians have been able to organize defence Forces to resist the Serbian attacks the systematic mass killing and ethnic cleansing of these two peoples have been prevented In areas where the Bosnians handed over their weapons to the Yugoslav army or Serbian militias the local non-Serbian
