Perseverance The word perseverance is such a powerful word Mastering the word results in ultimate success yet takes an extraordinary amount of discipline Most peoples definitions can be summarized as meaning to not give up Although people have a good sense of what this word means I still feel that most do not know the power of this word The dictionary gives this definition to the word perseverance The act of persevering persistence in anything undertaken continued pursuit or prosecution of any business or enterprise begun In other words persistence tenacity pertinacity courage and exertion Perseverance is not laziness procrastination or weak-heartedness Perseverance is tough it is not for the faint in heart It gives you the feeling of a conqueror after a war If I were to give a taste to perseverance I would have to say that perseverance has a bittersweet taste A taste that struggles in the beginning but is overcome in the end by victory Perseverance smells like sweat Perseverance sounds like the war cries of a courageous army that drowns out fear I remember when I was playing hockey with a couple of buddies on a Sunday night We had been playing for a while and I was getting extremely tired The score was tied up 2-2 in our fifth game that would decide who won the series Then the other team got a break away and I was the only one who had a chance to stop them So I somehow summed all the energy I had left and tore off after them not paying attention to the pain that my tired body radiated I somehow managed to stop the goal and then turn the puck around and go all the way down the rink to score and win the game All because I didnt give up I persevered I have learned that perseverance is something learned by an individual Its a type of habit that can be
