The Wife of Bath has been married five times and is apparently looking for husband number six She is very outspoken and opinionated not exactly what I would have thought any woman back then to be like It seems to me that she likes to talk and argue It seems that she thinks that women wish to have authority over men The tale centers around the question what do women want and it seems to support her view that women wish to have control over men The Wife of Bath seems to be pretty frisky about sex She is very outspoken about her adventures I think she feels they were adventures in marriage She describes her experiences with five marriages as if to prove that she is an expert on the subject of marriage She states in her very first word that experience will be her guide She claims that her experience gives her authority on the subject She must feel this is not really enough because she backs up what she says with quotations from the Bible I think she was more of an expert on how to gain control and keep control of men The Wife of Bath has had five husbands since the age of twelve She says that she has been criticized by many for having had five husbands She defends herself with quotations from the Bible I think what she is saying to defend herself is that God doesnt say how many husbands a person can have She gives a pretty clear picture of herself It is like you can feel sadness when she stops and thinks of her youth It is like she has a fear of growing old and ugly and I also thought the same thing when reading her tale It was like she was thinking of herself or referring to herself as the old hag I felt that her tale went right along with
