You can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time but you cant fool all of the people all the time are wise words from Abraham Lincoln Abraham This is how I view literacy abilities we can fake intelligence as a reader writer and speaker but the charade will not last Keeping up this act may get us decent grades and make us feel proud of ourselves but until we truly know how it is to be a fluent public speaker those grades and euphoria are meaningless For me faking my literacy ended when my Forensic Performance experience began Forensic Performance is a class as well as a club at my high school it was a speech and debate course designed to improve students public speaking abilities this is exactly what it did for me It was my freshman year in high school when I was recruited to join the class by my older cousin Anna she was going to be a senior It was the last class on the first day of school when I entered room 901 nervous but mainly ready to go home Still trying to get the jest of the class I sat down remained quiet and observed Soon enough the classroom was packed students sat on the ground between rows of desks and on extra chairs that had been lying around The atmosphere the other students created was fun and inviting everyone was reuniting from years before but none of whom I knew Finally a familiar face arrived it was Anna She waved and found an open spot to mingle like everyone else until the bell rang and everyone suiddenly fell silentMrs Hein the teacher walked to the front of the room and introduced herself and the course She seemed nice and extremely excited to see the turnout She mentioned something that no other teacher had that day she said our class
