humanitarian essay The Save the Childrens Foundation began in 1932 and was created by a women whose name was Eglantyne Jebb Eglantyne became interested in this by first helping children and families in Europe who suffered from poverty after WWII In 1923 Jebb wrote a document stating the five rights we owe to children which are as follows 1 The child who is hungry must be fed the child who is sick must be nursed the Children mentally or physically handicapped must be helped the maladjusted child must be recognized and the Orphan and the waif must be sheltered 2 The Child must be the first to receive relief in times of distress 3 The child must receive training which will enable him or her at the right time to feel livelihood and the Child must be protected against every form of exploitation 4 The child must be brought up in the consciousness that his or her talents should be to the service of others The Save the children Foundation has over 2400 employees and makes over 100 million dollar non-profit a year Eighty five percent of Save The Childrens Foundation is done over seas STCF works in over 19 states across the United States and over 45 developing nations worldwide The location of the main headquarters is in Westport Connecticut USA The sponsors for Save the Childrens Foundation play a big role in keeping this operation running A sponsor is expected to give a donation of 12 a month or 240 per year The sponsor will receive the childs name and a picture In return their child will write them letters and let the sponsor know how they are doing More than eighty cents of each dollar go to the program to benefit the sponsors little boy or girl eighty six percent of funds go toward the program itself nine percent goes toward fundraising and five percent
