In 1517 a new revolution took place With the introduction of Martin Luther the Protestant Reformation started a tidal wave of changes in the Roman Catholic Church Not only did it change around the Churchit also changed society political aspects and intellectual developments Moreover the Reformation was the foundation of new changes in the lives of many peoplewithin the Church and society and for political and intellectual developments Luther a man of great intelligence and wisdom had serious disagreements with positions of the Catholic Church Looking at Luthers Table Talk it further explained Luthers conflicts against the Catholic Church One issue that was important in dealing with was that no human being could ever earn salvation by leading blameless lives and performing in the proper spirit the pious acts enjoined by the Catholic Church Andrea 6 In other words there were no works that one could do to gain Gods graceonly by faith alone can one be justified Until this time also the Roman Catholic Church controlled the people But after the promotion of Protestantism the individual was made more important to man The Reformation allowed people to follow their own thoughts and way of life instead of having everything controlled by the Church Being very different then from Catholic views it brought upon a split into the Church and started the movement known as Protestantism Not only did the Church and society change political developments also emerged from the Reformation From Luthers Address the idea of the priesthood of all believers is incorporated Although it does promote that all people participate in the Church it also gave verification for Protestant princes to take action against the Church Luther called on German princes to reform the Church since the Church seemed unwilling to reform itself And after accepting the offer the German princes confiscated church lands closed monasteries and subordinated the clergy to civil law Another political change developing from the Reformation thinking was
