Over the course of the semester in my Health and Wellness class we did a behavioral change project This project directed us to change a health habit that we wanted to improve Change is a hard thing to overcome for some people including myself however this project was the perfect opportunity to change for the better The health habit that I intended to change was to shorten the amount of time it takes to run a full mile Originally it took me ten minutes to run a mile therefore my goal was to run a seven-minute mile I told myself I would achieve this goal by attending the gym five times a week Also I created a chart and recorded my timed mile daily Personally I believe that keeping track of my timed mile gave me motivation to work harder each day I pushed myself and never gave up on my goal The first week of changing my habit was the most difficult I was extremely out of shape and could barley run a mile without stopping Week after week going to the gym and running was becoming more of a habit rather than a hassle I began to enjoy running because it became a little easier every day and I started to see results Once I stared seeing results it motivated me to work even harder yet also eat healthier I have struggled with my weight growing up in a family with extreme medical problems My mother is chronically ill my father has type two diabetes and my two sisters and I have Celiac Disease This caused an extraordinary amount of stress on myself at such a young age it led me to eating my feelings I began gaining weight at a fast pace and before I knew it I was overweight This project was life changing for myself Two months into my habit change I began to see that I was changing
