Before I took the Managerial Negotiations course I used to think that negotiation was nothing but bargain However after the one week intensive study I know that I was wrong Negotiation is full of tactics and strategies It can happen between two parties or multiple parties and it can deal with one issue or multiple issues Even though the course only lasts one week but what I have learned from in class is very valuable During the simulations I found a few of my strengths as a negotiator First of all no matter how bad the situation is during the negotiation or even when negotiators start to walk out of the door I always stay calm and talk smoothly with counterparts to try to make the deal I can make the deal within the last one minute or I can even make the post-settlement after settlement That is why a few of my counterparties provided me feedback after the simulations that I seemed to be honest calm and I always make them feel that I want to make a deal Secondly I am pretty good at utilizing my analytical skills to provide alternative offers during the negotiations This is due to my quantitative background and my profession as a risk manager in a major Canada bank This strength helped me make the deal in the simulations of job interview and the sale of WineMastercom Thirdly I always look for a win-win solution of the deal I always try to first understand my counterparts priorities and figured out what I would do if I were in the counterparts shoes Therefore when I prepare my offer I want to satisfy my counterparts most important priorities while they dont weaken my overall position Because of my third strength all my deals were done in the simulations and I never suffered losses in any deals A few of my counterparts provided me feedback that I let them
