At a young age I was taught that having an education is crucial for succeeding in life My parents encouraged me to do my best in school and apply myself I worked hard and graduated in 1997 Afterward I attended college for a few semesters with the intention of attaining a degree in childhood education Another opportunity presented its self however and I couldnt refuse it I devoted myself to my new career and climbed the ladder of success quickly I am happy in my career and all Ive accomplished but I have always regretted not having a college education This regret explains my decision to pursue my education at APU Most of us reach a time in our lives when we realize we can accomplish more Whether in a career self growth or education we just know that its time to do more I have reached this time in my life Another reason I have decided to attend APU is the fact that I strive to be a positive example to everyone around me In high profile positions such as mine my professional and personal life is constantly dissected My associates view me as a role model They aspire accomplish the goals I have already achieved By attending APU people around me will view education as an important aspect toward self improvement just as I do Self improvement is also a significant reason for pursuing my education With every promotion I have taken in my career I have gained a new perspective I remember taking my first promotion I went from an hourly associate to a salaried manager I quickly realized that while I remained with the same company I was in a completely different world My opinions and feelings were no longer the top concern like they were when I was hourly The self improvement I have gained from the added responsibility of each position has been enlightening I am better able
