I was standing on the corner of Park and Washington Avenue with thesun beating on the back of my neck and the sweat sliding down the side ofmy temple I shifted my weight impatiently from one leg to the otheropened my canvas bag and took out a sheet of paper I had printed no morethan thirty minutes ago from a library computer I examined the sheet ofpaper hoping to see the same numbers I had seen the four previous timesThere on the far left column five rows down was the time 130 PM Thewatch on my wrist read 139 PM Then from the corner of my eye I saw mymother move toward the curb of the street which could only mean one thingI shove my schedule back into my bag and hustle toward the curb With ascreech of the breaks the bus came to a stop and the doors whoosh open Istepped in expecting a simple commute to and from the secretary of stateoffice but what I got was an eye opening experience After taking three buses and three trains we had arrived in LaramieIt did not take us long to realize that we were in the wrong place My mindwas reeling with thought shooting up non stop This cant be happeningwhat now ugg I was beyond frustrated and wanted more than anything togo back home Finally my mother decided it was best to ask a bystander fordirections once again we were on our way to another bus stop Im stillnot sure how long we waited at the bus stop but it was long enough to seethe sorrow and hardship cased upon the individuals who had the misfortuneof being dealt a bad hand of luck I particularly remember a woman She wasAfrican American with a white t-shit that was stained with dirt and grimeHer hair was frizzing from the humidity and looked a
