Having spent most of my lifetending and catering for my younger brothers needs and my own needsI have encountered many terrifying experiences However of those incidents none could compare with the experience of the house burgulary Dad was constantly drinking and gambling the mere few pounds we had on horse races He resorted to alchol about five years ago when he was made redundant at the local iron-processing factory Shortly afterwards mam left him and the whole family claiming that she could not tolerate his moody behaviour Therefor I the eldest in the family had to face the daunting task of rearing my younger brothersSure indeed it was an endurous task tending a family and trying to manage my own life Dad was of no assistance as he spent most of the time in the pub or at the bookies spending the 100 of dole money Quiet often we would have to sacrifice our dinner for his obsession It was a well known fact that dad was broke and he was in serious debt with certain gambling clients who claimed to be his friends Nobody knew exactly how much he owed them not even I knew but one thing that was for certain it was a pretty large sum of money Occasionally we recieved a phone call from these friends demanding the repayment of their debts Dad ignored these demands and brushed them off his shoulder with the response sure they are alright they will have it soon enough However I knew there was something deeper in these demands Despite being unsure of what this something was I knew for certain it was dangerous I could sense the danger from the sharp cold voices of these clients I was awoken one night by the thunderous banging and thumping on the front door Presuming it was my father arriving home from another of his booze nights I ran to the doorand unlatched it Three hefty mean
