Bridget's feedback:
"I was really struck by the energetic and confident tone of this piece. You clearly show you passion for this debate, and you have a great sense of flow and momentum in your prose. The reader feels swept up by the forceful rhetoric and movement across the paragraphs. I think a solid proofread would catch most of the minor errors I noticed, and whether you should start incorporating sources will depend on what your assignment guidelines are. Even if you do not need to include in-text citations, signal phrases or namedropping the source can go a long way in building authority ("According to Newsweek, ..." or "A Gallup poll showed that,..."). My main concern for this essay is whether this should be a persuasive essay or an opinion essay. Right now, this is an opinion essay, and your grade reflects exclusively the writing on the page as it stands now. However, because the heading is "Persuasive Piece," I do want to caution you that if your assignment is for a persuasive essay, the task is different. An opinion piece will present your opinion/stance, whereas the persuasive essay takes the extra step to also persuade the reader. This will be done using a more neutral/objective tone, relying on authoritative sources, and making room for counterarguments. I would suggest double-checking your assignment guidelines and making sure your approach fits those demands!"
