Philosophy 1100 Dr J McMahon 10302 Reflection Paper In understanding and explaining philosophy there will be many views and contradictions In these past three weeks many questions have been asked upon us in class that requires great thought and explanation We have been asked to look inside ourselves and break down these questions from our own experiences One of the first questions presented to us was Is there a God This raised several points of views Most students believed there was a God because that was what they were told by family or other member of their community I honestly cant say is there or not but I will state my position My mother and other members of my family preach the word of God constantly in my home I tend to have some conflict with the whole creation story as it has been told time and time again I just dont get the concept of one person creating everything What made him create people the stars moon and earth And if he did create everything who created him Where did he live People often get caught up in the spiritual aspect and do not analyze the scientific I find it to be most surprising that someone will just appear out the blue with no origin or nothing and create the present world as we know it Ive had several discussions with teachers classmates and friends My point of view expresses that most people believe in a higher being because it gives them faith Having something or someone to believe in makes people feel good It gives people that release from the outside world rids them of all their pain and sorrow How many times do we hear people calling for the praises of God at there worst time But how often do we hear people thanking God when they are out clubbing and drinking all night long In
