When was I an outsider Thats an easy question to answer My four years in high school I was the outsider the different one the non-traditional student I spent my high school years at a technical school Monty Tech to be exact where I was enrolled and studied in the early childhood education program Now this may not seem like I was the outsider but in fact I was Everyone else in that class had something I didnt They all had an extra X chromosome Thats right I was the only male student in a classroom of 15 studentsWhile this may be every guys dream it definitely had its ups and downs I mean on the plus side I was the only guy in a room full of girls I mean come on the odds had to be in my favor Unfortunately not The odds seemed nonexistent and that was ok because even though I could get nowhere I was able to make so many friends see things from the female prospective and yes learn much more about the female body than any man wishes to know At the time it seemed like I made a mistake and I should switch programs but I am glad I stuck it out and remained the diverse one in the classroom While everything seemed normal there were definitely times when I felt I was treated differently One example is the respect I got from some of the other students and one of the teachers There was another student who absolutely loved the fact that I was different from everyone else and she knew how to make me feel different She treated me almost as well as a bag of rubbish The teacher who should have disapproved of this and stopped it continued to pile it on in her own way Be it treating me different than the girls or having higher expectations for me she definitely knew how
