Crystal's feedback:
"You did a nice job with the essay structure (clear introduction, specific thesis statement, three well-focused body paragraphs, and a clear conclusion), but your introduction would benefit from having a stronger hook. Consider using a short anecdote or narrative element to create a vivid depiction of your struggles with English in the classroom, for example. You could also strengthen the thesis statement by incorporating the benefit of overcoming those obstacles (i.e., hinting at the bigger takeaway). While the body paragraphs are well-focused, they could be further strengthened by crafting clearer topic sentences and making sure each comes full circle at the end to both the topic sentence and your thesis statement (including the ultimate benefit of your actions, especially in the first body paragraph). The conclusion could also be strengthened by synthesizing more of the information from your body paragraphs (especially the transformation/overcoming the obstacles angle) and ending with the bigger takeaway. Finally, doing some minor cleanup with punctuation, grammar, spelling, some word choices, and sentence structures would improve the readability and flow. Addressing these elements would build on the nice job you’ve done with the structure and focus of your essay."
