A Changing Experience For my sophomore experience day I visited Franks adult center It is a place where mentally and physically disabled adults come to work They do get paid for the work that they do Overall it was a very moving day When I first got to the center I was a little afraid I was not used to seeing people like this Many could not even walk and had to be pushed around in wheelchairs Some were screaming and pounding on tables simply because they could not help it This kind of thing was new to me so I was apprehensive to work with these people at first When I finally did get matched up with someone to work with it turned out to be fun This was a big surprise to me The man I was with was named Steve But the workers called him Robin This was because he looks exactly like Robin Williams He was new at the center so he was as shy as I was This was good because I could actually relate with what Steve was going through His job for the day was to put four little blue beads into a plastic bag I was very surprised at how much of a challenge this was for Steve He couldnt decide which end opened or he would miss the bag with the beads We were not supposed to do it for them so I had to sit there while he labored for about an hour on these bags This taught me a little patience Patience is something that I have little of so Steve was a good match for me Seeing all these people made me really appreciate the gifts that I have This was mostly because they were so under-privileged Even when I feel like my life is unfair or that my life stinks I can think of how much better I have it then
