Disney world vs Coney Island I can still remember my first trip to Disney World I was no older than 6 and my sister was only 8 My parents would pack us in the car and start the 24-hour drive to Orlando Even though my sister and I would attempt to cause bodily harm to each other it was well worth the trip Finally what seemed like days my parents would announce that we were there causing my sister and I to promptly jump around the car All of the times Ive been to Disney we have stayed on the property it is the only way to truly experience Disney I have been to Disney World a total of 13 times the most recent being in 2000 for their millennium celebration I think Coney Island and Disney World both have the same appeal Both places offered the ability to get away from reality and forget all of your worries to be totally relaxed and free from your everyday restrictions In its heyday Coney Island was the place to be the crme of the crop the sugar in your tea It offered the masses a place to go and be equal socialite and blue collar could mingle without the restrictions their socio- economic rolls had placed on them At Coney Island there were many freedoms allowed Women were able to break free from some of the things that held them back they were allowed to swim in public if they were so inclined Their bathing suits freed them from the highly restrictive corsets that society deemed as a must for any proper lady They were allowed to play and romp like they used to in their childhood days Coney Island offered many attractions rides games food and a general atmosphere that couldnt be found at that time period Many Americans were fascinated by the roller coaster which was taking its first
