Snorkeling and scuba diving are two different hobbies but are very similar in that the aspect of the two is to explore the bottom of lakes or oceans Snorkeling is patrolling the surface of the water in order to see what lies on the bottom of the ocean or lake normally in shallow water Scuba diving is going to the bottom of an ocean or lake breathing with compressed air to see what interesting things can be found Both are fun and educational Snorkeling and scuba diving are have the same objective but have many differences The differences between snorkeling and scuba diving are enormous when it comes to the equipment Snorkeling only involves three things a mask snorkel and fins Altogether these items can cost under one hundred dollars Scuba diving is more complicating and there is a lot more equipment involved Besides the mask snorkel and fins use a regulator octopus buoyancy compensator bc gauges wet suit and a tank The regulator is the piece that screws onto the tank and connects to the mouthpiece It also controls the amount of airflow that goes to the mouthpiece octopus bc and gauges This feature saves air by only using air when breathing in The octopus is the spare breather in case the main breather fails The buoyancy compensator is the jacket that holds the tank It also fills up with air to bring the person to the surface without using any energy The gauges are very important to scuba diving They tell how much air is left in the tank what the temperature is and how much longer the person can stay at the bottom The tank simply holds the air you breathe Wet suits are very much needed because the further down the person goes the colder it gets A wet suit is not needed for snorkeling because the surface is always warmer All of the scuba gear will cost well over a
