Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is a science fiction books that definitely pulls at the thinking mechanisms of the mind This story is all about firemen who unlike the current position holders actually set fires instead of stopping them The only thing theyre worrying about burning though are books Books are illegal at this time because the world is very technologically advanced to the point where the government wants to make sure people wont stop depending on it Thats why they send the firemen to burn the houses that hold these forbidden storiesGuy Montag is the one character that isnt easy to understand From the moment the first page is opened Montag is already questioning life as he knows it But if he wasnt confused enough already he meets some interesting people down the road who turn his world upside down Guy goes from being normal and happy to questioning and nervous His adventure from firefighter to fugitive is unlike any other tale Along his path to search for some kind of clarity Montag meets his new partner in crime The book simply calls him Faber Faber helps Montag understand his intense need for books while also helping him resist the captains manipulative talks These two face life changing trouble that isnt easy to get out of which puts the reader on the edge of his seat The biggest question in the book next to What is going on with Montag is Who is Clarisse McClellan This young lady first implanted the doubtful state of mind in Montag Shes a mysterious character in that she enters the book almost spontaneously then leaves just as quickly The reader gets a hint toward the end of what had happened to Clarisse but she is a reoccurring character in Montags thoughts This alternate universe is located in what I believe to be a future United States This setting allows the reader to forget all logic
