The Awakening by Kate Chopin also known as A Solitary Soul is not very solitary at all The novel describes a woman named Edna who feels very alone and unloved Throughout the novel her story of new experiences love and character change through time Consequently she does things she should not necessarily do and even is thought of having an illness Her life is very different however it is a worldly life known very well todayEdna feels her husband Leonce is not very attentive to her needs and begins seeing a guy named Robert Edna also greatly cares about the opinion Robert has for her music and asks him Well how did he like her music 26 Edna also has a strong bond with her friend Adele who helps her through her change of lifestyle and is commonly referencing ideas to her Edna slowly tells Adele about Robert therefore it is taking quite a bit of time to get it out of her Adele finds out by asking Of whom-of what is she thinking 15Leonce is a very busy man trying to support his family Therefore Edna is still continuing her cheating ways In fact When Edna was at last alone she breathed a big genuine sigh of relief 72 Upon his return Leonce knows something is going on and brings in a doctor to evaluate her and he says to Leonce Let her stay among her own people for a while it will do her good 66 This he permits however he is still very curious as to what the real issue isEdna is very overcome by her curiosity and does not want anyone hurt She stops seeing Robert and steers away from Leone Some of the final words Edna says are Good-by-because she love him 116 Leonce tries to talk her out of it however it is too late Edna says Some way she does not feel moved to speak of
