MacBeth although one of Shakespeares greatest works disappointed me when seen on stage Usually acting captures the raw emotion and depth of a characters feeling However in this recent portrayal I found there was a great lack of true sentiment resulting in confusion and disarray among the student body audience When I read MacBeth by William Shakespeare I found it to be a story of great complexity mystery and adventure on numerous levels Once broken down it can be greatly understood and enjoyed Instead of simplifying the story by bringing the characters to life I felt the actors made more chaos than necessary Especially towards those who had never read the play the scenic view left much more to be desired The actor who played the part of MacBeth did a mediocre depiction of the deep character Although I felt he could have done much more with the character emotionally to really show the madness taking him over I wish the audience could look into his eyes and see the thought process undergoing in his mind Instead the actor did not represent MacBeths descent from a level of joy to levels of craze and hatred well at all I also felt the same way about Lady MacBeth who also undergoes a large plunge into suicidal thought These parts could have been played with more creativity and darkness Unfortunately they were not leaving the audience with many questions about what actually went on In my opinion the best acting job was done by the three witches who dominated the play with their small parts We easily saw their malicious nature and way of life from the first scene Their characters were very well established and the most real in contrary to all other characters in the play They clearly showed their wild fits of hysteria and moments of graveness I found their performance not only genuine but the most enjoyable I was
