The causes for this problem are rooted in both how physicians treat their patients and how the patients treat themselves With the rise of awareness of this problem more doctors to be are being trained how to deal with this But since the main cause of this problem lies with doctors that are already in practice we have to see how the lack of training on pain treatment is hurting our nation According to the And even though some places are beginning to implement this training into their curriculum the truth still stands that only 15 states in the US have any rules about the training Without it being a required curriculum we are only fueling this problem even more Unfortunately training is not the number one thing that is causing Doctors to back of with the medication they have readily available The main cause for doctors is simply that many of them fear malpractice lawsuits if they over medicate or cause their patients to become addicted to particular drugs Not only do the doctors cause this problem but we as patients are guilty as well Many people fear that medicating their pain will cost to much become addictive or make them look weak But the biggest problem lies in the fact that most patients simply dont know how to properly describe their pain to the doctor or in some cases just not have the capability to do so Now that we understand exact implications of the problem and what is causing it we can now take the steps to bring it to an end Lets first see what we can do on a systematic level then on a personal level We need adequate training for doctors so they know what they are doing not fear how much treatment to give and to know if they are not sure how much treatment to administer when to bring in a specialist that
