Robert Frost was born on March 16 1874 in San Francisco was one of the Americass leading 20-Century poets and he was a four time winner of the Pulitzer Prize His poetry was both traditional and experimental regional and universal At the age of 11 Frosts father died the family left California and then settled in Massachusetts Frost then attended high school there and also attended Dartmouth College but he remained less then one semester He then returned to Massachusetts and taught school and worked in the mill as a newspaper reporter In 1894 he sold My Butterfly to The independent a New York literary journal The year following he married Eleanor White with whom he had shared valedictorian honors at Lawrence High School From 1897-1899 he attended Harvard College as a special student but he left with no degree Over the next ten years of Frosts life he wrote but rarely published poetry operated a farm in Derry New Hampshire and made his income by teaching at Derrys Pinkerton Academy In 1912 he sold the farm and used the money to take his family to England where he cold entirely devote himself to writing The Frosts then sailed back to the United States and landed in New York City in 1915 two days after Frosts first book was published In Boston Jan 29 1963 Robert Frost died
