Bathtubandrea vilarJohnny woke up shivered put on his robe over his sweats got back gotback under the coversand went to sleep Two hours later the alarm by the TV woke up a stillchilly Johnny Black Johnny turned on the shower and used the plug from the kitchen sink to fillthe bathtub up He got in turnedthe water up till it was a little more than warm then lay down under thehot pounding stream fromthe shower head The water always seemed to cool off by the time it hit thetub -- maybe because of thecool air in the room Well soon the room would warm up as it filled withthe hot water vapor pouring outof the glass shower Johnny put his hands under his head and lay back all the way so the waterfilled his ears Now he heardthe shower hitting the water in the tub from underwater Everything seemed alot quieter now Johnny felttired and dizzy and glad to be motionless resting quiet Everything feltperfect The water landing was stilla little warm but the water filling the tub was the perfect temperatureJohnny couldnt think how he couldbe happier -- maybe if he didnt have to go to work in an hour but rightnow that seemed a long way offJohnny closed his eyes and rested peacefully slipping in and out of a halfdream of floating through warmliquid clouds Suddenly Johnny felt very cold Something was wrong He was no longertired but he couldnt tell whyAs he opened his eyes he became aware of the fact that the temperaturearound him was much coolerthan it had been a moment ago -- not cold but not the perfect dreamy bathhe had gotten used to Assoon as he started to look around his mind absorbed exactly what was wrongIt had been hours since hehad closed his eyes The bathtub had overflowed a long time ago and thebathroom floor was flooded The carpets were soggy and the room had astuffy smell
