Leadership is the behavior of an individual directing the actives of a group toward a shared goal Wynant nd Its also broken down into three main viewpoints The trait approach which means you is born with the personality trait to become a leader Second the behavioral approach characterizes leaders by behavioral patterns such as situational where the leader interacts with the works doing varies job Next the autocratic process where the leader makes all decisions solely The supportive approach is where the leader creates a positive work environment where employees want to work from them The Contingency approach is based on how the person reacts to the situations and the person hes working with this theory has mixed support over the other two examples After reading the studies in Dr Wynants article these three examples seem in my opinion to have a reasonable understanding of the traits a person in a supervising position should have while in a working environmentThe trait that mostly fits my personality is the behavioral approach At my job as a warehouse supervisor I look at the days tasks and assign jobs that fit their abilities While at work I make an effort to treat everyone with respect I dont want my employees as my job title means there beneath me While on my shift I choose to work with each of my employees and complete tasks as a teamThe behavioral approach in my opinion works the best for all parties involved you dont want to scare people into following your direction or having others do all the work while to dictate and take all the credit The leadership trait I have benefits everyone and seem to be the most logical out of the examples it keeps all parties on an equal level while working and everyone helps and works together with guidance thats how to be a leaderReference1 WynantNndLeadership A theoretical approach In NWynant EdIDS 1001 Foundations for college success
