Dr David Suzuki David T Suzuki Phd the Chair of the David Suzuki Foundation is an award-winning scientist environmentalist and broadcaster David was born in Vancouver in 1936 during World War 2 at the age of six he was put into an interment camp in BC with his family After the war he went to high school in London Ontario He graduated with honours from Amherst College in 1958 and then went to receive his Phd in zoology from the University of Chicago in 1961 He is the author of more 30 books David Suzuki is a world leader in sustainable ecology In Davids eight part series A Planet For The Taking he won an award from the United Nations He has also done many internationally praised documentaries and series including The secret of life The brain and his CBC radio series the nature of things He also has a weekly column Science Matters in which he discusses everything from coral reef depletion to the threat of a possible nuclear arms race after the terrorist attacks on the US As an internationally respected geneticist David has received an uncountable list of awards including the prestigious EWR Steacie Memorial Fellowship Award for the most Outstanding Canadian Research Scientist under the Age of 35 Plus a United Nations Environment Program medal and the Order of Canada He has 15 honorary doctorates from universities in Canada the US and Australia For his work in support of Canadas First Nations people David has received many tributes and has been honoured with five names and formal adoption by two tribes As you can see Dr David Suzuki is an incredible Canadian and person That is why I believe that Dr David Suzuki has made the most impact on not just the Canadian society but the world
