He who has begun has half the work done written by Horace is a quotation about how one must achieve his goal by following it In setting a goal one must think about his goal what the main reason behind the initial goal was and how he is going to achieve it If one does achieve their goal he can make it harder by adding to itTo attain ones goal one must strengthen any weaknesses Horaces quotation He who has begun has half the work done means that in order to achieve a goal a person has to start it and try his best to achieve it but once it is accomplished he has to add to it and is only half way done An example of this would be someone learning a new sport such as swimming Since he has never learned how to swim he would be new to it so his first goal would be learning how to swim Once he learns how to swim he can expand his objective and essentially he is half way done with his work So his next goal could be joining the swim team or even becoming a life guard When one tries something new one does his best to accomplish the task but he is really only half way done because achieving a goal usually leads to setting anotherAchieving a goal means to follow it and to never give up One has to believe in his goal in order to follow it For example in the movie Elf the character Buddy finds out that he is not actually an elf and decides to find his real father who lives in New York His father did not believe he was Buddys father but Buddy found ways not to give up on him and persuaded him to realize the reality Buddys goal was accomplished but he expanded it by encouraging his father to embrace and celebrate
