For this assignment I built my activity bag around two main concepts mathematics and literacy Because of the wide range of abilities within this classroom each of the topics and activities has varying uses based on different children and family abilities For example the card game Skip-bo can be fairly easy to play once the rules are understood however there is another level of complexity based on strategy for those students who are in the gifted and talented program Another example would be the student journal for each of the activities the child will write or draw something based on their abilities they could do one or the other Because reading and increasing the use and understanding of English is a major focus in the classroom it is important that the children have to try to read and write for the home activityThe first activity included in this activity bag is the game Skip-bo In this game the child will be reinforcing simple prerequisite skill in math as well as deeper thinking planning ahead mathematical reasoning and problem solving Activity two consisted of grouping different objects together but used harder objects to classify then would be used in a younger class room For this activity the child will be able to make at least 10 simple groups and possibly more complex ones as well They will also be able to understand these groupings and why they are different Fallowing activity two was the reading activity which consisted of two very different books The first book was Numbers Book 1 With reading this book children will be able to fallow along or read mostly on their own The children will also be able to associate the numbers with the pictures solving simple math problems The second book was The Librarian from the Black Lagoon With this book the child will be able to read with
