America was built upon the individualistic values of its founderssuch as Thomas Jefferson After gaining freedom from the British Crown aconstitution with emphasis on protecting individual rights was drawn upfor fear of an all-powerful government taking over again Although theseare the ideals we as a people were brought up with I have come to dislikehow uninvolved my community is and its one-for-all attitude which seem togo hand-in-hand If I could incite neighbors and family to help one another goals ofall sorts would be reached In high school there was an exemplary amountof students in prestigious clubs who participated in community servicehowever what motivates the average student Even the overachievers onlyhelped because it was a requirement Imagine a church-organized blooddrive Limitless good can come from this one event and lives could besaved but even with the priceless repercussions barely anyone shows upThe hospital does not collect enough to meet the needs of their manypatients and the drive seems like a failure This seems like a saddepiction but it is the reality of many unnoticed efforts I wishsomething could be stirred within my communitys hearts so we could allcome together for the common good and not because Joe Blow has ten hoursto collect but for prosperity of the whole We label one another and pit ourselves against the opposing side butwe forget that no matter what we believe we are still people brothers andsisters of the same kin We are all part of the human race we are allliving beings On the inside are we not all the same We have to stopthinking in the singular and remember we are one All I see is peoplelooking out for themselves Why not extend that care to fellow brethren Ifwe all came together for one cause anything could be accomplished Insteadof fighting against each other we would work collectively It is possibleto
