When my father Reginald Lewis first met the woman he was to wed one Debra Brown he was a member of the US army stationed at Fort Bragg it was around June of 1978 he was driving down the road when he saw a woman hitchhiking who he picked up who later turned out to be his girlfriend and future wife they were wed on June 21 1979 A native of Harkers Island North Carolina my father was the product of a family of fishermen and navel officers he began working as a fisherman with his uncle and father at the age of about 10 at the age 18 directly after graduating from East Carteret High School he enlisted in the military and after basic training was shipped out to the Korean front where he fought for his country After he was shipped back to the US he was stationed at Cherry Point where he became a Federal Firefighter then her was shipped to Fort Bragg he meet his wife and my mother Debra after retiring from the military he became a civil service firefighter where he currently works now as assistant chief My mother grew up in Fayetteville North Carolina with her mother a sister and a brother she had 2 step fathers during her childhood she had a fairly good childhood though like and other family in the 1950s and 60s had its problems she grew up to marry my father Reginald and have 1 child me Reginald B Lewis Jr her only child although when she meet my father she dropped out of high school which later she went back and earned her GED Reginald and Debra are both youngest children but were giving very good childhoods with few problems but the both as children were faced with sibling rivalry and other such thing that plagued multiple child families during the 50s and 60s In a sense they were destined for
