Conflict is the essence of all good drama Explore the ways in which Arthur Miller uses conflict to make a successful drama in All of my Sons and A View from the Bridge In Arthur Millers A View from the Bridge and All of my Sons Miller uses conflict to create a tight play full of dramatic suspense Miller creates suspense between characters using there conflicts between each other to captivate the audience this is also accomplished by showing the individual characters conflicts which are within themselves This is a key skill used by Miller as this involves the audience as only they know the conflicts within When the characters have conflicts within and tale it upon themselves to try and resolve the matter the audience can see the drastic effects this will have upon the other characters The audience empathises with the main character in each play Eddie Carbone and Joe Keller as they take actions which will in the end result in their death In both plays there is a theme of family conflict and both show a theme of an outsider who comes into the family area and causes the final conflict which results in death In All of my Sons there is a tense conflict between Eddie and Rodolpho As soon as Rodolpho arrives Eddie is unsure about Rodolpho Rodolpho parted the long relationship between Eddie and Catherine as Eddie had isolated Catherine This made Eddie feel rejected and his feeling for her made him do the drastic things that resulted in his death The longing to be with Catherine is shown when Catherine is going to marry Rodolpho Eddie cannot accept this This is internal conflict it is not mentioned in the family as Eddie thinks Beatrice does not know but when the truth is exposed Eddie denies it This is shown when Beatrice says Eddie you can never have her The questions in which
