Better Nutrition Mean Better Brain-Power The brain is the central processing unit that is in control of the mind body and all of its functions A persons diet can directly affect the ability for the brain to learn and understand materials Depending on the brain stimulating chemicals contained in food eating the right things can raise one to their full mental potential In a sense people can eat their way to being smart Neurotransmitters are chemicals that pass information among cells in the brain These chemicals are manufactured by nerve cells that use specific food components as raw material so the food a person eats directly effects the chemicals in their brain every food creates various neurotransmitters with different functions Tryptophan is an amino acid that is found in protein rich foods and when it is digested it is made into the neurotransmitter serotonin Thus a persons mood and mental ability are greatly influenced by the ratio of the five central amines called neurotransmitters or nervous system chemicals These nervous system chemicals are greatly affected by the different nutrients one eats Prased 3 The central amines include norepinephrine epinephrine serotonin dopamine and phenylethylamine Norepinephrine is an amine that triggers hostility and irritability einephrine triggers anxiety Serotonin is an amine that can make a person feel relaxed and even sleepy but too much can inhibit a persons ability to concentrate and perform to their absolute potential Dopamine which comes from the amino acid tyrosine can enliven the brain and make it more alert causing the person to think and react faster Phenylethylamin makes a person excited when it is at lower levels but paranoid if the levels are too high It is also known as the love peptide because it is manufactured in large amounts when people are in love If these chemicals are out of balance mood swings and irritability can occur but can be easily prevented with simple changes to a
