Brave New World vs Reality In many ways the world which is created in Brave New World can be very similar to our world yet there are large differences which set it apart from ours Although BNW is only one mans idea of the future and during the time which it was written may have seemed like an impossible future today many of the ideas in it are not very far fetched Huxley does a good job of creating a totally different reality where almost nothing is the same as it is today The important thing is that he does it while still making it realistic So the result is a world that totally challenges our ways of life and presents a very different way of looking at things The two worlds obviously must have similarities because we would be their ancestors One major similarity is that they both have a lot of discrimination against people of different social classes Todays discrimination is mainly based on things like race religion sexual preference and ethnicity BNWs discrimination is based on the different social classes that everyone is born into They are taught at an early age to stick with people in their own class and that any member of a lower caste was not as important as you Another way in which the two worlds are similar is that they both have some sort of organized community groups or meetings Nowadays we have religion and other cultural groups that each have their own individual characteristics but all provide for a feeling of community for all its members In the future they have organized solidarity services which everyone would attend After the service many times and orgy would follow This was the world states substitute for the loss of religion and family On more similarity between the two worlds is that they both are not perfect The society in BNW is an attempt by the
