MacbethUltimately everyone is responsible for their own actions however there may be certain factors that affect ones decisions or actions Macbeth was influenced by numerous characters who contributed directly or indirectly to his downfall Lady Macbeth persuaded Macbeth to kill Duncan by making him feel like a coward and guilty Banquo made Macbeth afraid and jealous and the witches elevated Macbeths confidence making him arrogant and greedy All these characters contributed in one way or another to the downfall of Macbeth Knowing that Macbeth would do almost anything for her Lady Macbeth tried in every way possible to convince Macbeth to kill Duncan She accused Macbeth of not loving her because he wouldnt commit the murder From this timeSuch I account thy love I VII l 41-42 Macbeths decision to kill Duncan was largely influenced by his love for his dearest partner of greatness In addition to making Macbeth feel guilty Lady Macbeth also insults his masculinity therefore insulting his pride When you durst do it then you were a manAnd to be more than what you were you wouldBe so much more the man I VII l 54-56 To even further assure that Macbeth would commit the deed Lady Macbeth tells him that she will plan everything and he doesnt need to worry about a thing and you shall putThis nights great business into my dispatch I VII l 74-75 Macbeth was worried about how they would get away with the murder but because his wife was planning everything and made it look straight forward and simple he had more reason to murder Duncan He started to think that murdering Duncan would be an easy way to prove his manliness and his love for his wife and it would also be an easy way to achieve his highest ambition of one day becoming king Although Banquo and Macbeth seemed to be good friends at the beginning of the play all that soon
