"I enjoyed reading this essay--I love The Witches! You have done a good job identifying, describing, and giving examples of how the boy's character traits saved his life. The example of how he listened to his grandmother was very persuasive. Your essay is also organized very well: you let your reader know the three traits you will discuss, you keep focused on one trait per body paragraph, and then you bring the essay to a close. This makes it very easy for your reader to follow the discussion and be persuaded by it. I noticed you use a very casual and conversational tone. Sometimes, this style is fine, but you will always want to make sure your assignment guidelines and your prompt allow that kind of writing. Otherwise, you will want to trim out the more conversational phrases like "So today we will be talking about..." and "I'm going to show you..." (These might make sense if this is an oral presentation.) Your reader will understand when you are presenting examples ("showing" them) by the way you organize your paragraphs and the logical order of the ideas. Another very informal sentence was your final sentence. I would suggest rewriting it using stronger, more formal language to have a bigger impact on your reader at the very end."
