Romeo and Juliet is a classic tale of two young lovers who cannot get married due to a feud between families This tale Has many different versions set in many different time frames but they all share the same basic storyline One recent variation of Romeo and Juliet was made with Leonardo Dicaprio staring as Romeo and Claire Danes as Juliet This is a good example of how Romeo and Juliet can be transformed without changing the basic idea of the play In this version the three most transformed scenes from the book are Act one-Scene one Act one-Scene five and the final act These scenes have been transformed through various ways but none of the dialogue has been changed and that is what makes this version of Romeo and Juliet truly unique Act One Scene One the fight scene the scene which I feel sets the tone for the rest of the play It shows how much these families despise each other The main quote which shows the families hate for each other is when Gregory says the quarrel Is between our masters and us there men This quote shows how deep the feud is The three main changes in this scene are setting props and characters how they are portrayed The setting in the movie is quite modern as oppose to the book In the movie the setting is a gas station as oppose to a marketplace in the book Another obvious change is the props in the movie they use guns As oppose to swords and drive rather than walk There was also a difference in how the characters were portrayed The biggest difference was the prince being a police chief but the idea of an authority figure still remains Two smaller changes are Tybalt dressed like an assassin
