Stosh Steward Western Civilization Mr Nash 27 November 2001 Egyptian religion and its impacts Present day Egypt is riddled with tombs pyramids and other relics from their great history Egypts lure and mystism that attracts people of this age is almost entirely attributed to the Egyptians devotion to their religion Religion impressed most aspects of Egyptian society and it still influences the way the world works today Egypt was a civilization that enjoyed years of peace during the ancient periodsGreen 7 This was in sharp contrast to the always on alert Mesopotamian culture Mesopotamians geography most likely contributed to their turmoil and tension they had no natural barriers like the Egyptians had The Mesopotamians outlook on life was also lower than that of the Egyptians this was mostly caused by the unpredictable flooding of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers They viewed nature was out to get them While the Egyptians because of the Nile river and its yearly predictable flooding and rich fertile soil allowed them to respect nature and not fear itGreen 9 The Nile river valley was surround by deserts along with the Red SeaDersin 8 This kept foreigners from invading and kept the Egyptian people peaceful and worry free Their many gods and goddess also reflected their good mood the gods represented feelings of happiness and not hateHamlyn 2 Money and time was spent on creating and thinking instead of weapons of war Egypt like all civilizations started out as a group of nomadic peoples that followed herds of animalsHamlyn 11 They were disorganized and most likely had no real concrete religion Families would bury their dead in familiar places but no real ceremony or mummification processes happened What little religion that existed was spread throughout families orallyGreen 7 Egyptian religion really began to form during the predynastic periodDenis 8 The predynastic period began in the early 3500s and ended around the year 3100 bce Villages and organized societies began
