Bridget's feedback:
"I really appreciate the ideas you explore in this essay. Setting up the more conceptual discussion with a personal anecdote is a good move to create pathos and keep the broader ideas grounded in the personal. I suggest taking more advantage of paragraphing, as the current single-paragraph structure flattens the nuances and shifts across the essay, and can also overwhelm the reader, acting as a barrier to engagement. As you think about where to break things up, I recommend working within each new paragraph to check that the sentences are hitting targets for efficiency, pacing, and movement within those clusters. Make sure your style can stay fluid and personable by checking up on your mechanics. Elements like punctuation really help direct the reader across the syntax and flow, allowing them to focus on the ideas. For an example, let's look at the sentence starting "Love is still as wonderful..."; this is a complex sentence that may either need an emdash or similar, or a reworking across the whole structure to accommodate the various examples you use in proving the point."
