I read The Rise and Fall of Adolf Hitler for my book review It was a very interesting book for an insane individual to be the main subject of a biography The book is written with the first hand and researched information from William L Shirer Will is also the author of this small one hundred and eighty-two paged book this is not including the indexwith the index it would be one hundred and eighty-eight pages The book has a copyright date of August 1961 which means it is very old That is pretty good considering that the information is closer to the date in which the situation involving Hitler rose The book is published by Scholastic Book Services now known as just Scholastic and was first offered at thirty-five cents This book was a very interesting and I would recommend it to anyone interested in American or foreign history Hitler was born April 20 1889 and raised by his mother and his father whom was an official customs worker for the Austrian government When he was younger he was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire which is now present-day Austria At this time Austria was very important to Europe Most of the people living near the German border considered themselves German rather than their true Austrian decent He ended up getting into violent quarrels with his dad over his love for art Until these quarrels started he got very excellent marks in school but lost interest when his father started the abuse He then quit school after his father died and dedicated his time to roaming the streets and reading books instead of getting a job to help out his mother and little sister The major downfall to his life started with his flunking the entrance exam to the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts This made him blame others for his failings Even though he was considered a vagabond he never smoked or drank Roaming
