Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind This quote exaggerated by the Harry J Anslinger an anti-drug activist and a former US Representative to the United Nations Narcotics Commission showed how he used fear to invoke to the public about how marijuana is bad Marijuana first came about in the United States around 7000-8000 bc where the hemp fabric was believed to be the first woven fabric Around that time until the late 1700s it was used for its hemp fabric It wasnt until the 1900s after the Food and Drug Administration was established where marijuana had any government insight From there it was recognized in Utah as a dire drug and passed the first state anti-marijuana law in 1915 Drug Warrant 1 Then in 1970 the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act was passed where it replaces and updates all previous laws concerning narcotics It had a emphasis on law enforcement and included the Controlled Substance Act where marijuana was label a Schedule 1 drug reserved for the most dangerous drugs that have no recognized medical use But the controversy over Anslinger and William Randolph Hearst an owner of a huge chain of newspapers question the legitimacy of marijuana It also goes against our freedon of choice and freedom of religion where some religions use it as part of their spiritual and religious ceremonies Many research shows that marijuana has no harmful effect on the human body and where it is far less harmful then the legalized tobacco or alcohol So the question is is marijuana an innocent relaxing pastime or a deadly detrimental drug Marijuana is very detrimental to human society where legalized would increase the chances of falling into the hands of underage children who would abuse the drug Legalizing marijuana would lead to more kids trying it affecting how they think and harming their bodies Any time you make something legal you increase the accessibility to
