Since the days of early civilization man has tried to help create a way of life that was beneficial to all In such societies as that of Mesopotamia the ruling body has tried to come up with laws and practices that would keep life going safely That is really what all societies have been trying to do since Mesopotamia until now and we will keep on going till our race dies out Keeping everyone on earth or at least on the continent we live is the main responsibility of society The leaders in the United States try to come up with laws and social programs to try and help benefit all of us American citizens Some of the laws are set up to protect the citizens from harming each other and being unsafe Traffic laws were created just for that reason to protect us from ourselves This is one of the main responsibilities of society to protect each other from unforeseen careless actions It is also societies responsibility to keep everyone informed on things in our environment that may be unsafe to us without our knowing To do this the US government has set up organizations like the Center for Disease Control and the Environmental Protection Agency These organizations are here to help us from gaining fatal illnesses and killing our environment It is societies duty to try and make the world we live in safer for everyone but they are not responsible for giving us wealth and prosperity Some people may say that society should help every man or woman get a leg up and become prosperous but that would be asking way to much of society as a whole Things that can protect us are obvious things like laws against violence and drunk driving The things that make us happy are very different for everybody Some people like movies others like books some people like to go rock climbing and some people even
