The book I chose for the book report is The Divorce Mediation handbook by Paula James This is a book I would recommend to anyone and everyone who is either getting married or divorced If you have or are going through a divorce you will be able to relate to the real life examples in the handbook If you are married you will be able to see what all the components included in the case of a divorce You couldnt ask for more of an experienced person to write the book Paula James has several years of experience as a family lawyer and serves a mediator for divorcing couples This book is primarily on her position as a mediator and how she helps families get through divorces in a reasonable manor As a married person I can appreciate our relationship even more after reading the real life examples Hearing of all the middle aged couples who for some reason or another decide to go their separate ways after years of being together The thought of departing after so much time has been invested makes me ill My parents divorced after 13 years In some ways I wished they could have resolved their differences Then again a divorce may have been the only plausible answer This book starts off with how mediation differs from litigation On the one hand you can only have a reasonable couple in order for mediation to work Then again litigation may be the only answer due to all of the disagreements If one or both of the spouses are simply impossible then there may be no other answer besides litigation If the couple wants to be fair and reasonable both the cost and the stress is limited with mediation Since the majority of the divorces have women who are mostly the primary caregivers they tend to miss out on experience that allows them to negotiate Where the men in a divorce
