Society functions on the idea that one individual or group of people leads a nation as a whole However with only one individuals leading society too much power lies in the hands of just one person Humans often perform the same actions repeatedly because of the habitual nature of mankind which explains the existence of dictatorships In todays society dictators are getting overthrown because people want freedom of speech and they want to be treated equally In Nineteen Eighty-Four George Orwell predicts what the society would be like forty-four years after World War II Orwell detests totalitarianism because he saw how Hitler and Stalin were ruling their country and he saw what it does to the society as a whole Some people may think that the reason that a country needs a government is because human beings are not trusted to govern themselves due to habitual habits where they do what they want and not what they need to do Orwell wrote the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four as a method to warn future generations of how the society would be like with a corrupted government He disliked totalitarianism because he thought it was wrong to tell people how they should think and feel and that people should be able to express themselves He believed that people should have individuality and freedom of speech His beliefs are portrayed onto the protagonist Winston Smith Throughout the whole novel Winston is always looking for a perfect time to get to know OBrien so he can join the Brother Hood and rebel against Big Brother He wrote in journals even though he knew the consequences of doublethink At the same time the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four is based on the idea of communism how everyone is treated equally and only the government is at the top of the society Big Brother and the Inner party are on top Winston is considered a middle class person which is known as
