Pax Americana The Lost Empire Like a cathedral peace must be constructed patiently and with unshakable faith Peace that can only be creating based in the common good and participation of all societies But is it possible to impose peace In September 2000 the right-wing US think-tank The Project for a New American Century PNAC produced a report entitled Rebuilding Americas Defenses - Strategy Forces and Resources For a New Century This document visualizes the creation of Pax Americana or American Peace However the community around the world suggested that it is a peace for Americans not a peace for all peoples and all the nations of the earth After September 11 The United States justifies war as a means to create a Pax Americana It appears that United States is not looking for American Peace but instead the creation of an Empire where there is only one universal order that accepts no boundaries or limits US still believes this universal mission This is a dangerous condition because it leads Americans to act as if Americas presumed destiny confers upon it the right to supervise and judge what other nations do and when necessary to intervene to punish miscreants or troublemakers For almost 200 years the US has dominated the hemisphere and the results are third world countries with poor economic and politic policies Today Unites States wants to extend this empire to the rest of the world Is this a Pax Americana or a Lost Empire I believe that Latin America is an example of an American Empire where US controlled the destinies of societies It is not an American Peace instead is a doctrine based in national interest and exploitation In the Americas Pax American is no dream of peace and prosperity Rather it is a nightmare of broken promises that Latin America and the Caribbean have been enduring since the 19th century US is
