This essay will explain and make relationships evident between the quotation all animals are equal but some are more equal than others and different language values and ideas from the novella Animal Farm by George Orwell Firstly Orwell uses satire as a reason for using animals as characters to highlight certain human flaws so that he can ridicule them Secondly irony is used a lot in this novella especially Napoleon Thirdly allegory is used to show that the reality of Animal Farm is not true Satire means to ridicule the recklessness and weaknesses of mankind Satire can be done through words or through art cartoons or through acting Orwell is able to apply satire to this novella by using common terms we usually associate with humans to the animals for example Clover was a stout motherly mare approaching middle life who had never got her figure back after her fourth foal pg 2 animals dont usually care for their figure or how they look Boxer was an enormous beastA white stripe down his nose gave him a somewhat stupid appearance pg 2 we associate the quote never got her figure back mainly with women and not animals meaning that the women dont get their figure back after they have given birth The farmer would probably be better off if an animal put on more weight For an animal to have a stripe down their face most humans see that as natural because animals do not have a natural skin colour where it is colour all over they have different coloured patches resembling their skin Animals do not really have a mind of their own which is why they are mainly used for doing our hard laborious work for an animal to think of it stupid to have a stripe down their face then that is when it turns to satire because the animal is thinking in the way of humankind Irony is
